Community Tasting Notes 4

July 6, 2013 - Decanted for 60 mins, and consumed at a PN tasting event I held.
No formal note. A brilliant Burgundy, floral on the nose with bright red fruits and minerality.
Mature, refined tannins, red currant and strawberry, savory soil and mushroom notes on the palate, with med+ acidity and beautiful balanced texture and complexity.
Although I thought this wine was running out of steam, this tasting changed my mind...it is in a beautiful drinking window, and will likely be able to stay there for another 5+ years, based on today's showing.

September 12, 2012 - Stern peppery yet fruity. Sorta oxidative carrot, some nail polish, barnyard, but a nice red fruit core. Still feels young and cranky.

July 13, 2012 - Clear and medium garnet in color. Nose is clean, med+ intensity with notes of red cherry and raspberry fruit, gorgeous chalky minerality and earthy notes. On the palate, dry, med+ acid, med/light bodied, light and well integrated tannins, focused and tart red fruit leads into notes of moist soil and gravel. Med+ finish with red fruit and minerals. So very nice, fully mature, will drink well another 3+ years.

April 28, 2012 - This is an 11 yr old Burgundy, 12.5% abv. The color shows a brick color, browning to the rim, showing some signs of bottle age. The nose delivers saddle leather, wet soil and mushrooms, followed by tart cherry Pinot fruit. Gorgeous. On the palate, the tart, tart cherry fruit is ushered in by the tense acidity and the finely integrated tannins, leading into a 30-45sec tar-and-mineral-laden finish. This wine should be fine for another 2-4 years, and is so gorgeous right now.

(Vougeraie Beaune Les Grèves) Medium-plus cherry colour. The nose has high red tones. Furry, medium-plus tannins and long acidity. A nice fruit profile.
