November 4, 2021 - Pure, linear, astonishingly humble and delicate. Quiet, restrained, contained power. A cascade of nuanced sensations: nutmeg, hazelnut, cream, orange marmalade, clementines, prunes. Fabulous weight and oiliness. I love the sheer intensity of this. It's super impressive: it is so exuberant and yet so discreet - a fascinating paradox. It's not as anarchic or hedonistic as the '47 Doux, but it's much more elegant. A completely different expression and style of Chenin Blanc, but equally ageworthy. Another century wine!

June 15, 2019 - Bright, clear, browned through. Wow wow wow, not even a whiff of oxidation, absolutely gorgeous, stunning, and complex with apricot, orange peel, honey, black tea, and lanolin. Caramelized and saline flavors are buoyed by still-fresh acidity and persist long after the last sip. This will last forever.

(L’année de la victoire is among the greatest Vouvray vintages ever. May 1st frost—one of the latest ever recorded—helped reduce yields before producers regularly green harvested. From an ex-cellar bottle.)

July 7, 2017 - A wow wine. Unfortunately, it was all finished too quickly. wished i had a bigger bottle. Feels like it can still keep for a long long time

July 27, 2015 - Incredibly special wine. Dark colour and honeyed, somewhat caramelised, nose, but so pure and with no oxidation. Wonderful rich apricot and apple notes. Amazingly balanced, with phenomenally fresh acidity alongside the sweetness, which was much more pronounced than I expected. So many layers and so persistent. The food with it - which would have been very good on its own - was doing it a disservice. The most interesting sweet wine, and one of the very greatest wines, I've ever drunk. Will live to its 100th birthday I'm sure.

March 20, 2013 - This bottle was even better than the one that we opened 6 months ago with Salil. Bright, lively, and powerful. The depth of flavors was simply astonishing, with every sip or sniff opening up another layer of minerals, wool, tea, and fruit. All of this comes together on an acid backbone that keeps this wine refreshing and eminently drinkable despite the RS and tremendous age. Amazing stuff.
