January 7, 2011 - Twisted Oak was my introduction to Viognier with the 2005 vintage. I thought I had perhaps held this bottle just a bit too long, but really it drank fine. Still mouth-filling, with notes of honey, apricot and a bit of pear. A bit of toasty oak still on the finish. A lovely wine.

December 22, 2008 - On the nose I smelled orange creamsicle, oak, toast, vanilla, cream, pineapple, and ginger. The ginger struck me the most, it smelled as if someone had ground fresh ginger right into my wine. In the mouth I got flavors of apple, pear, spiced peach, pineapple, and lemon cream. Sorta like the filling in a lemon danish from a family bakery…not the stuff in Hostess pies.

September 2, 2008 - This is really nice. Upon opening, the oak aroma predominates, but it is not typical buttery oak - more of a crusty toast scent. Mouthfeel is smooth, medium weight, with some more buttered toast flavors and citrus. Nothing too flowery for me, not too stemmy (I hate that) nor too alcoholic as I find many viogniers. Finish is shorter than I would like, but really a great wine.
Day 2: still holding up well, not a very discernible change from yesterday.
Day 3: on the edge of losing its balance, becoming more alcoholic. I suggest drinking with 24 hrs or less air time.

July 4, 2008 - Calaveras County Wine Tasting (The Twisted Oak Winery, and Murphys, CA.): Light straw in the glass.
delicious nose of rice, mango, pineapple, slight vanilla/cream.
med- alcohol, but med+ viscosity (love the oiliness of viognier!). Low+ sweetness. Fruit lingers on finish. Very nice and complex. Sweet for me. $22.
