Community Tasting Notes 9

June 14, 2022 - Quite savory and fully mature with notes of faded smoky black fruits, St. Emilion earth and a touch of soy. Traditionally-styled St. Emilion with a lean and silky texture and a fine, lingering finish. Drink up!

May 29, 2019 - Po’s 89 Bordeaux @ Trompette (La Trompette, London): Cooler and richer. A slight tomato leafiness. Cooler character here and a little lighter and leaner. Nice in the context, but a little lacking some oomph. Belair. ***1/2

June 29, 2011 - Slightly corked bottle, wasn't overwhelming but enhanced the earthiness and mushroom. Cork showed seepage on 3/4, but not through to the cap. Even through the defective qualities, the wine was palatable. Fruit is gone but the acid carries the wine, and there was still a formidable presence of oak tannin (more apple peal in taste profile). Still, went nicely with food. Will be trying three more bottles in the near future as it does appear to be past its peak, but hasn't, and likely won't, fall off a cliff. Too much structure to allow that. Did not rate due to defective bottle, but would estimate a mid-70s profile.

November 12, 2008 - Storage suspect here, so take my notes with a grain... Older than Elmer Fudd and smells like his underwear. Not brick, more like brown rust. Nose is OK if you fancy jock straps. Of course that did't stop me from tanking down a glass with lunch.

Thin, bit of that old world front & mid palate although fleeting, hangs with a bit of sour cherries, disappears. Just too old to be fair and throw up a score.
