Community Tasting Notes 10

January 14, 2024 - Excellent value in entry-level N. Rhone Syrah goodness. Classic flavors of olive, blackberry, tar, but a bit less volume than the St. Jo. Very good.

December 13, 2023 - Outstanding QPR here. Similar experience to other tasters. Ripe fruit, roasted meat and earthy wild notes. Nice weight and just tastes good.

June 21, 2023 - Same as my last note, awesome value, true syrah. Bright, punchy wild blackberry, peppery umami, salty olive, a twinge of funk, crisp acidity that isn't overdone, juicy and lovely. What it lacks in "depth" it makes up for with verve and complexity.

November 6, 2022 - Excellent syrah typicity at a great price point. Savory, peppery, olive, dark fruits.

November 5, 2022 - Yes. So aggressive and punchy in the best way- I guess you could call it "elegant" as it's drinkable and fresh, but this is a little umami bomb, with tons of peppered meat, black olive, and slightly sour wild blackberry/mulberry with that distinct early-picked syrah saltiness, brambly but not without fruit. Lots of sizzling acidity and a great example of a very savory, almost challenging wine that still feels fun and relaxed- most of the time.

At times the savory tones really did overwhelm the fruit- I think I've had a vintage or two of this in the past that felt better-balanced in that regard. Still, a really engaging wine and amazing for the sub-$25 price. Not the most "balanced" maybe, a little harsh, but balance isn't everything.
