February 27, 2024 - from a half bottle, the cork broke so it needed to be decanted.
fair amount tanin, surprised that it was a bit young on first tasting.
over the next half hour, went through a bit of a funk but came back for the last sip.
The wine looks violet colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle.
It smells like tobacco, basil and hay/straw. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes short. The wine has low acidity.
a reasonably nice glass of wine

February 9, 2022 - Nice earthy nose to this one. Balance between earthy and fruit was excellent. Tannins still present, but smooth. Some acid left. Could have cellared another five years, easy.

January 5, 2022 - A forgotten bottle. Again the same notes as three years ago. Past its prime but still in a good shape. Dark, fullbodied, soft and warm.

January 14, 2016 - After an overwhelming youth and a dump phase (approx. 2010 -2013, can´t remember when I had the last bottle) this wine turned back to a very, very good CabSauv with dark fruits embedded in soft tannins and a full body. The wine has not much complexity but a deep structure and a long lasting aftertaste. (The flavour profile reminds me rather to an Barossa from Down under than to a Napa.)
What´s wrong or missing? Not much: There´s no Napa-mint and blackcurrant anymore, a not well integrated alcohol is a little bit burning (14,5% according to label, but I guess it´s close to 15%) which leads to a little lack of freshness and elegance. That prevents me to give an even higher rating (94 instead of 92.).
Now in it´s prime and it won´t improve by further aging and gaining tertiary flavours pressumably. So drink now.

(Parallel Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley) In the crowded field of California Cabernet Sauvignons, this is one to look for and follow. The talented Phillipe Melka works with an outstanding fruit source from the upper reaches of Conn Valley, overlooking Lake Hennessey. His 2005 Cabernet shows an outstanding concentration of fruit, with a classically styled balance that reminds me of Bordeaux—but perhaps it’s the influence of Melka. Look for the 2006 estate bottling when it’s released. Hot Picks
