April 4, 2024 - Gave this bottle 45 minutes in the decanter before pouring. It’s very dark with a somewhat brooding bouquet on this showing. On the palate, there are black plums, roasted coffee, earth, and black currant notes. As others have noted, the tannins are a touch course at this point but will likely smooth out with more time in the cellar. The cab franc component is minimal in this wine, but shows up as a menthol note in the finish. Definitely an interesting Bordeaux blend and showing more complexity than on release, when it was all about juicy fruit flavors. I’m happy to have more in the cellar and suspect it’ll be interesting and enjoyable to follow over the next 7-8 years or so.

April 26, 2023 - Very deep ruby. Complex, alluring and heavy on the bass notes, this offers aromas of ripe blackberry, cassis, baked earth, roasted coffee, vanilla, toast and spice. Medium to full bodied with medium+ acidity, and chewy, though ripe tannins that offset the sweet black fruit flavors. There's a slight coarseness to the texture here that distracts from the smooth almost sultry style. Otherwise, this certainly works.

April 5, 2023 - Good dark fruit, with notable tannic structure, but very drinkable today.

October 19, 2022 - A little bit of a quieter showing this time around, a year after my first bottle. The joyous fruit has settled in a bit, and there are some nice savory notes complementing it at this point. This certainly has years of prime drinking ahead of it and may, if opening soon, benefit from more air that I gave it tonight.

October 15, 2021 - Purchased at Mustards Grill in Napa. No formal note, but this wine is terrific and is already drinking well with minimal air. Definitely one of the top Cabernet/Merlot blends (plus small amounts of Cab Franc and Petit Verdot) that I’ve had in recent memory. An excellent value, too.
