April 7, 2024 - Wine was fruit driven tilting with more alcohol than fruit at opening. Best after 2 hours. I found the red and blue fruits silky, but mainly one dimensional. The finish was similar in the front, middle and finish end. I gave it a 91 for being somewhat boring. I did enjoy my last bottle which I had with a meal. So, drinking the wine while watching basketball without food was perhaps not the right venue. A 91 without food and a 93 with food might be more appropriate. I believe the wine can be summed up as a better version of how Josh wine appeals to the most drinkers. Drink young as it is not built for cellaring.

April 3, 2024 - Haven't reviewed one of these in about 5 months.....

Picked up at auction, at roughly half price. Opened too close to dinner to really enjoy, as it needed every bit of 2+ hours to fill out and perform, right now.

Thin and fruity to start. Opaque dark magenta in the glass. Nose of oaky, brambly dark berries with forest floor elements and vanilla. Boozy in alcohol throughout. It's stated on the bottle at 14.8%. This bottle was 'high octane' and felt like more. Deepens and integrates better with 2+ hours of air. Red/dark red fruited mostly on the palate. Riveting acidity. Lots of energy currently. Very enjoyable in spite of the boozy-ness at present. Funny, how some of these bottles are more out of balance than others. I find this bombastic Cali 'style' awesome from time to time, but overall, a lot less than what I did 10-15 years ago. To me, this big fruity style is best drinking in this early window. Not sure that it ages out and gives you much more than alcohol, later on?

December 16, 2023 - Required a 4 hour decant before it opened up. Dark chocolate raisin dominates both the nose & palate. Layered with leather, graphite & earth. Very unique new world cab.

December 4, 2023 - I gave this four hours of slow ox per AGELVIS (king of aeration) before bringing it downtown to celebrate my daughters 30th birthday with the family. I think that AG and BadMonkey nail the descriptors here -
Dark, purple color, blackberries and currants leap from the glass on first whiff, similar black fruits plus black cherries on the palate (baked pie notes), dense, rich mid palate with coffee notes, wild fennel, wet stones.

This was considerably better with food, such that none of the bitterness came through on the ending. Nice representation of warm Oakville fruit

November 24, 2023 - Four hour slow ox. Very very deep intense ruby magenta color. Blackberry, violet, cherry, mocha, prailine, and cinnamon scone. Dry, satiny palate, with super fine acidity. Full, somewhat plush tannins on the longish finish.
