April 1, 2024 - Gifted this one by Agelvis....pnp'd with family for the ballgame tonight. Enjoyed with Carol's baby back ribs and all the fixin's.
Dark garnet in the glass. Pretty muted and standard Napa cab nose, nothing remarkable. Palate we even less remarkable. Thin, red fruit and not much else, until......it gets about 2 hours of air. Then it fills out, grows deeper, darker and very flavorful at that point. Not overly complex in any way but very good compared to the 88-89 it started with at the pnp. Might even border on a 93 by the end of the bottle. Thanks J, this was fun to share with the family. -

October 15, 2023 - 90-minute double decant. Very deep dark purple magenta color. Red apple peel, menthol, and river rock. Tongue drying palate, with grainy acidity. Firm, full tannins on the medium finish.
This is worse than my last bottle and I don’t imagine it will improve. There’s no flaw. I bought it two years ago because Galloni gave it 96 points. I’ve never been so disappointed in a purchase. Fortunately, the bottles are not so expensive.1 person found this helpful Comments (3) -

July 17, 2023 - Two hour double decant. Very deep dark magenta color. Blackberry, persimmon, mint tea, peony, rye bread, and minerality. Smooth, somewhat tart, tongue drying, medium+ bodied palate. Firm, full tannins on the long finish.
This is an interesting study. Great overall structure, but there’s a sharpness that cheapens the wine. Initially bought this for $65 because of a 96 score from Vinous (Decanter tasting panel gave it an 89). It’s never going to be a 96 IMHO. Hard to say where this will go.
Additional note: This did fly across the United States two days ago, so it’s possible that had some impact. I have two more bottles and report back in a year or so. -

January 21, 2022 - Dark fruits with a slightly underdeveloped fruit to it. Jammy mouthfeel with more dark chocolate than dark fruit at mid palette. Firm structure with very present tannins that remind you that this is a mere baby. I would not open these until 5-10 years.
