March 22, 2024 - The aromas start heavy on the pomegranate, but what an evolution in the glass as this opens up! The palate starts with potpourri and dried rose, but less delicate things. eventually come to the fore. Game and smoked meats, light green garrigue, bay leaf, maybe some black olive, crushed gravel, and dark minerals that cackle from inside the volcano's core. The acidity doesn't sear, but it almost blisters, and I'm half-convinced I felt a slight frizzante, and the tannic structure supports all those wild mineral and herbal notes.

    March 10, 2024 - Meh.

I was expecting something a lot more energetic...

This was lightly extracted and borderline flabby. Not much flavour and a really short finish as well. For how hyped this producer is this was a poor showing, and it isn't exactly cheap either.

I'd go with Occhipinti any day of the week over this.

December 22, 2023 - Less volatile than previous bottles, glossy red fruit, dried herb. Good.

December 10, 2023 - First wine from this producer; consumed over dinner.
Light in color, which doesn't necessarily detract.
Quite raw. Would probably have benefited from decanting if this had been an option.
This bottle developed nicely over the course of three hours.
It comes across a little unfinished and unpolished. The various elements are a bit disjointed but slowly seemed to come together over dinner; hence the need for decanting.
    Only lightly marked by VA.
I'm not really convinced that this wine would benefit from years of aging, but I would need to taste older bottles to further asses such a potential.
It worked well with a venison dinner and a cheese course.

December 4, 2023 - A bit of spritz on the pop. A bit of a whiff that made me fear mouse taint, but this blew off rather than grew. Plum and raspberry, herb and ash. Pretty ephemeral with taut tannin to go with a bit of chrunchy crispness on the palate. Plenty of energy if a bit thin. 89+
Gained strength over the following day. More depth of fruit, more nuance and close knit, more integrated tannin, more rounded out. 90 with a small plus upside for middle term cellaring
