March 12, 2023 - To those still holding (I still have a couple bottles myself): this is probably in a "drink now" window. Our bottle was enjoyable despite being a terrible pairing to the food I cooked. No longer expressing itself as youthful, it tasted mature and great. I'll probably try and go through my last two bottles in the next few years (consumption rate has slowed quite a bit!)

January 24, 2021 - Spice box, menthol with leather, white pepper. After a while some dark fruit emerges (on day two) along with wet forest soil. Palate pleasure, this is a great blockbuster of a wine. It's like drinking dirt with dark cherries, if you like that kind of thing. I do. Amazing that you can drink this after almost 22 years. Still going strong. Very versatile.

January 15, 2009 - The last of my many bottles of this wine. Begins with a lot of iron on the palate, and the wine needs a few hours to open up and show its charms. For the first few hours, it's somewhat hard and comes across as an older wine that was woken up too early and is grumpy. Eventually with about four hours of air, the cherry fruit comes to the fore and shows nicely, with good body and mouthfeel, mature but not old, still lively. I can't complain much for the $20 this cost, but neither can I say that I feel remiss that this was my last bottle.

October 4, 2008 - Only had one glass on the first night, where it showed lots of earth and iron. On the second night, this wine showed quite well, the palate had broadened and the fruit emerged to the center, with lots of sour cherry, baked plums, tobacco leaf and menthol. Really interesting texture, has good grip, loads of juicy acidity and a lifted structure that is showing signs of softening. Very pleasing.
