Community Tasting Notes 7

  • WhatsSamSipping Does not like this wine:

April 14, 2019 - Tried to be patient with this but there was no great reward. Tired fruit and limp body. Some musky aromas but no great development. I can think of Bourgognes that outperform this wine.

    Ah well.

September 2, 2015 - Immediately expressive with a nose full of smoked meats, compost, sweet cedar and iron. It is dense and sweet in the mouth with robust meaty flavours and some sweet florals. It is chewy with some wood tannin astringency. The wine's abundant minerality makes itself known just after swallowing.

April 19, 2014 - Stewed cherries strawberries with a big oomph of sous bois savory undergrowth and a touch of umami. Most drinking well and showing mid weight tannin strength. A delightful surprise on such an unheralded vintage.

July 18, 2009 - Dried red berry and cherry notes on the nose, also hints of red licorice. There is delicious sour cherry here, and it could be because this was tasted from a 375 ml, but to me this is starting to dry out, with a drying finish and assertive acidity.
