March 14, 2024 - My last bottle of the #11 Little Wine. At this point, my notes for Sami-Odi all come across as love letters because I am captivated every time I have one. I’ve still yet to smell a wine that smells as good as these do.

    Pop and pour initially for a glass, then slow-ox overnight and consumed the next day. This is an assemblage of 2021 (46%), 2020 (18%), 2019 (16%), 2018 (2%), 2017 (9%), 2016 (5%) & 2015 (4%).

As is normal, the aromatics upon opening fill the room. I’ve had plenty of SamiOdi and it never ceases to amaze how powerful the aromatics are. Deep purple in the glass (stains the glass type purple). Heady aromas of concentrated red and black fruits, boysenberry jam, violets, and sweet spice. You’d think with all those big aromas the palate would slap you around, but as Fraser can do, there is a fresh profile here. It’s extremely concentrated but somehow stays light. More dark fruits (freshly squeezed), espresso, small hint of both oak and green herbs down the middle to frame it. Tannins were still powerful on day two, but by no means overly so. Give this a half day decant, or slow ox overnight, and you’ll be enthralled.

Thankfully I’ve got the HD’s resting, and more on the way.

September 21, 2023 - an absolute bomb punchy goodness with a velvety feel - gave it about 6-8 hour decant - wanted to do the prescribed Frazer 10h+ but dinner plan was moved back to lunch plan!

    May 20, 2023 - Deep inky purple
Intense nose of rich red fruit, jam, graphite, distinctive aroma
Med+ acidity, full body, med soft tannins
Big flavours. Black and red fruit, blueberry, blackberry jam, oak, vanilla, violet
Good balance, amazing length, great intensity, great intensity.
Such a powerful yet restrained wine. Opened in morning and tasting 10 hours later and still evolving in glass. Many years ahead.

February 5, 2023 - Tasted as a part of a large tasting night. It certainly lacks delicacy -- when drank with something like Gonon side by side, it screams loud and a bit unhinged especially at opening -- it almost tastes oxidized due to the silkiness and texture when drinking with other wines side by side.

The wine definitely needs a lot of air or age to shine currently -- the wine certainly performed better later. Would wait, although I have no doubts it'll evolve into something quite nice.

    January 3, 2023 - An unvintaged assemblage composed of casks from 2021 (46%), 2020 (18%), 2019 (16%), 2018 (2%), 2017 (9%), 2016 (5%) & 2015 (4%)

Deep purple ruby in color. As with all these wines the aromas are immediately noticeable and powerful. Notes of cherry, pomegranate, mulberry, indian spices. Perfectly balanced, effortless and weightless on the palate. Wanted to check on on first of 6 of these. Good now with a few hour decant but should only get better the longer you can wait. 96+
