January 6, 2024 - Decanted for six hours (!) after the cork slipped right in the bottle as it was being opened. Initially the nose was super poopy and barnyard-y but after about 4 or 5 hours it was totally gone and replaced by smoky jerky, jalapeño, beef fat, gravel, decaying leaves. Really tertiary but (for me) really compelling. Palate is still rounding out, still a little fruit there in fact; cherry cola, plums, a raspberry note, grape leaf, hint of that green pepper cooked in beef fat from the nose. Great complexity, great acidity and length. Tannins totally resolved but there is still balance. A totally bangarang pairing with cassoulet. Great wine, but give it time/air!

April 15, 2023 - A flight of '66 (dbl mag) '78 (750ml), '83 (dbl mag) and '89 (750ml). A respectable showing for all! All wines double decanted and prepared expertly for service. Short TN. The '78 had an incredible nose right out of the gates. Absolutely lovely, deep, clean and intoxicating - out of 750ml!! Impressive and very good. As it sat longer and longer it lost some of that first impression but still very good. My second favorite of the flight.

Litt forsiktig frukt i bakgrunnen.

Smaksrik. Velbalansert og elegant. Lang ettersmak. Godt moden rød frukt. Nok syre som gjør at vinen fortsatt føles frisk og god.

En meget god vin som har tålt årene bra.

March 7, 2023 - Intact, fresh for such an old wine, smoothed by time, redolent of smoked poblano peppers and graphite. Not a flashy wine, but very good. Probably would have shown a little better with some charred beef. 89-90 pts.

December 25, 2022 - Cordier bottling. Bottle and cork in great condition. Medium garnet colour, fine sediment. Crunchy red fruit, red cherry, blackberry, black currant, tobacco, leather, mushroom, spices, and balsamic notes, with good acidity, mostly resolved tannin, and very good length. Good balance and complexity. There are some herbaceous notes and a light bell pepper component which some would nowadays surely comment on as signs of underripeness, but that would miss the point. This wine represents the essence of classic Left Bank Bordeaux! Benefits from moderate aeration. Consistent on day two. Great Bordeaux!
