April 23, 2024 - (Un)fortunately I was not able to keep my hands off this second bottle of a case, while I had my last one a month ago.
Starts out super fresh, a bit bloody/metallic with Haribo cola candies on the nose. A bit harsh and angular, so I decanted. With air the fruit got deeper, ripe cherries started to appear and the acid got juicier and riper. Spiciness on the palate also developed. Medium in tannins and super delicious.
Improvement over two hours show that this, while being a ‘lowly’ Rosso di Montalcino, probably will even improve with age. I’ll be locking my remaining bottles away from my eager hands. -

March 30, 2024 - Quite nice, with excellent, stacked structure, but it needs time. At 5(ish) years old this will probably be best in another five or more. Rather locked in on itself to start, it improved over several hours. This approaches Brunello structure but without the same ripeness level, which is just about right by me.

November 1, 2023 - Dark ruby brown colour, medium-strong dry fruity aroma. First taste is classic young brunello, red fruits - cherries, currants and hint of spice. Finish is surprisingly dry, rich, earthy and medium linger. Drinking very well - shows its good to wait even for Rossos.

April 11, 2023 - Great Rosso di Montalcino. Tasted once at Le Ragnaie alongside their BdM 2018, Troncone 2020, Civitella 2020, and barrel sample of Rosso 2020 and had the other a full bottle drank over the span of 2 days. Nose is fragrant and bright red fruit of cherry with hints of incense. This wine is like a baby Brunello di Montalcino taste is fresh, light yet fleshy, sweet red berries, tobacco, and with great length + structure. Balanced and smooth. This wine was still drinking beautifully, bright berry fruit, smooth, with good intensity and structure on the second day. I can only say this wine exceeded my expectations at this price point and I couldn’t help but purchase as much as possible. Easy drinking but serious wine. Wonderful value and with good potential for aging. Choosing not to review the 2020 vintage as it was a kind pour from the winemaker’s barrel sample on the 5th day left out to test how it develops but I wanted to write how it showed great freshness and structure on the 5th day. The Rosso di Montalcino from Le Ragnaie is serious stuff.
