December 25, 2023 - Opened this bottle to pair with Christmas dinner of prime rib, potatoes, carrots, and popovers. The Field Select is the reserve wine from Hayfork. The wine was great. Smells of cocoa, espresso, and some floral notes. Tastes of dark plum, black raspberry, some spice, maybe some leather and sweet tobacco. The wine has integrated tannin and a longish finish. I suspect this bottle could age another 15ish years, however I am a bit afraid of 2020 wines so I drink them early when possible. I will certainly seek out other vintages of Hayfork wines.
