August 31, 2023 - From 75cl, simple stopper closure. Paint-stencil on bottle, not paper label (comparing and contrasting the two labels uploaded on CT). No indication of when this was bottled, or whether it is a solera wine... given the rarity and (recently) high cost of Terrantez that seems odd, but it was probably bottled a couple of decades ago, before fine Madeira became so expensive. Opened but not decanted about 2 weeks—initially very squidged, musty and confused, but this has settled down, and the wine is evidently in good condition. This has the racy acidity of Terrantez, but has a watery-dilute texture on the entry, only picking up a bit more concentration and aromatic intensity towards the finish. To paraphrase issacjamesbaker's excellent CT TN of 01.02.2016, it shows healthy raisin, citrus rind, salt and ground almond. I'd add: medium-sweet, and only medium-vibrancy. Good value at the 40 GBP paid, but wouldn't go much higher. 89–90P

February 1, 2016 - Madeira Pilgrimage; 2/1/2016-2/4/2016 (Madeira): Floral and bright on the nose. Fresh and vibrant on the palate with lovely raisin and orange rind complexities. Almonds and salt add complexity. Pure, fresh, elegant.

October 26, 2010 - A fruity, easy intensity that speaks of a somewhat youthful Madeira (maybe 40 years old)? Delicious and fresh.
