March 16, 2024 - Red cherry, spice and earth are the dominant notes on the nose, but underneath them and similar to the 2017, there are elements of black cherry and plum. Close to medium bodied (13.4% ABV) with a fruit profile of red cherry and red berries, with some slightly darker notes through the middle showing a bit more depth. Contrasting acidity on the backside works to help define the fruit and provide the bridge to the finish. Mineral notes, spices and tart cherry through the finish. The wine is still slightly tight on the backside, but shows good clarity and overall definition. In the future, I'd expect additional complexity (as shown by the evolutionary profile of the 2017) and as the acidity continues to come together on the backside, improved harmony. Next bottle for me in Q1 2025.
