April 8, 2017 - To all who condemned the 04 Rion Les Charmes sorry to say this wine has actually opened up and left behind all the green notes, and is actually in a beautifull spot right now. Archtypical Chambolle on the nose, cool palate, coating mouthfeel and sublime lenght. Tasted with oven roasted chicken and celery root pure. Thumbs up and gives even higher expectations for both 05 and 06 which all have a long life ahead.

February 17, 2013 - Sunday Night Wines: Served blind. Powerful pinot, linear, and lacks a bit complexity, some furry elements. No one thought of 2004 (no greens here – in fact I haven’t detected much in my 2004s), no one of Charmes (quite rustic, but I often find that it does not live up to its feminine name).

December 30, 2012 - Delicate, forward, cranberry fruit. Slight bitterness. Simple for the appellation but a good drink. Drinking well now. Like Barthod's Charmes, this shows no "green meanies".

March 18, 2009 - Quite tannic, early development. Enormous potential.

(PATRICE RION LES CHARMES CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY) #4; VaynerPAZZZ; COLOR-dark; NOSE-classic Burgundy (sweaty socks) w/ McDonald's French Fries; TASTE-intriguing cabbage flavor, a little light & hollow on mid-palate, nice structure w/ elegance and refinement, but it falls a little short, hollow, disjointed w/ short finish; AM-88/99; GV-87

(Rion Michéle & Patrice Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes) Medium, medium-plus cherry-red. The nose is quintessential Chambolle - or at least many peoples’ expectation - soft, sweet red fruit with the faintest savoury edge; it’s very pretty. Versus the domaine’s 04 Argillières there is more depth, intensity and extra ripeness. The tannins are fully covered. The acidity still has a little tartness, but this also helps hold the fresh flavours of the mouth-watering finish. The oak has much better integration here - lovely wine.
