Community Tasting Notes 2

March 7, 2011 - This Savigny has a beautiful nose that reminds me of dark chocolate filled with forest fruit liquor (the typical one that you don't like as a child from the box selection). Round on the mouth, long and mouthwatering finish. Essentially what you look for in this type of wines @ price range. Thank god.

December 7, 2007 - Very pale ruby with brown shades...looks like an "oldtimer". The nose though contradicts this first impression boasting loads of pepper, some earth and only after the red fruits. Very fresh and young. The mouth is still tight but already showing a very elegant pedigree full of spicies, pepper and small meaty edge. Maybe lacking at the moment a bit more fruit but it pays with the precision of the wine. Tannins and accidity in place and an incredible long after-taste. The wine really refuses to leave the palate. It will surely reward some cellar time. Drink: 2009-2012

(Vougeraie Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Marconnets) The nose is rather understated - just a twist of oak toast and again a hint of reduction. Just a little less ripe than the 05 version but well balanced with fresh acidity and nice finish.
