Community Tasting Notes 6

March 13, 2023 - Pale lemon green in the glass. Reminiscent of Fiano both on the nose and palate. Tasted blind and revealed Chardonnay. Get fuuuuucked. This has no character, depth or excitement. Why make wine like this? Whose pleasure is this? Sweet, flabby, clumsy.

December 8, 2022 - 13.9% alcohol; screw top, initial aroma of alcohol, fruit, maybe a trace of bananas; fast legs, very light yellow; nose of alcohol, fermenting cassis; medium to full bodied, bananas, plantains, figs, pears; opened yesterday evening, tried straight from the refrigerator at about 8 degrees C, tasted almost like a drop or two of machine oil had been added, terrible aftertaste; later a second taste at room temperature, 23 degrees C, was much improved, the bad background/aftertaste was gone and the wine had become promising as an accompaniment to chicken and fish, or to hors-d'oeuvres or dessert cheeses/nuts; even so, QPR is still not good at $12 to $15 a bottle

November 26, 2022 - Tasted blindfolded. Initial nose of bananas. Eventually it blew away and was left with a lemon and grapefruit nose with a bit of spice. Thin bodied and high acidity. Lemons, minerals, and grapefruit for the palate. Acidic finish with a bit of limestone. I feel that this is a white wine, but nothing sticks out. Pinot Grigio perhaps?

Blindfold off. Nearly clear yellow in color. Drinkable, but not that exciting.

The reveal: Joel Gott Unoaked Chardonnay. This is lacking the body I expect even in an unoaked chard. It’s light, crisp, and drinkable - the type of wine you'd get served at a large banquet. Just lacks excitement.

October 18, 2022 - Simple, a bit sweet, not bad… just not high quality either. I bought it to keep our picnic lunch cool and it worked fine for that!
