Community Tasting Notes 5

May 5, 2024 - Not as spicy and sweet as the 19, but more elegant - which is to be expected from the traits of the vintages. The structure is acid driven, and the tannins are present but beautifully handled.

For now you’re mostly getting the classic cherry candy nebbiolo fruit with a touch of anise and roses. It’s definitely in the category of a Barolo price and quality wise. I don’t love it at the moment despite the striking elegance, but I have hopes for more complexity and charm with age.

September 24, 2023 - Best Langhe Nebbiolo ever. Typical Giuseppe Rinaldi by its lifted, red berries, rose peetals, a touch of green herbs, sweetness and elegance packed into one.

July 4, 2023 - Vacation wines; 6/27/2023-7/6/2023 (Hotel Sonne, Partschins, IT): Glass: Spiegelau Universal
Popped and poured, tasted completely blind.
Clear, light garnet color. Classic, young Nebbiolo nose with some sweet fruit. On the palate fine and elegant with a nice sweet fruit and beautiful texture. Doesn't have the depth and complexity of a Barolo, but drinks nicely with a bright future of at least another decade. 91+

April 18, 2023 - The ‘20 is a promising young Langhe Nebbiolo, although I didn’t find it quite as easy to drink as the 2021 tasted last week at the winery - hard to say if that’s due to the vintage quality or the difference in circumstances.

On the nose, I found lighter red berry fruits, fresh red roses, spices, and mint. On the palate, I found the 2020 surprisingly tannic and structured for a Langhe nebbiolo, suggesting the wine could benefit from a few years in bottle. As on the nose, it is a classic expression of light red fruit and red roses, with just a hint of the typical Rinaldi sweetness poking through at this point.
