Community Tasting Notes 30

March 4, 2024 - Only 8.5% alcohol. Very pale yellow. Discrete but charming nose with hints of flowers. The most striking feature is on the palate with very sharp mineral acidy beautifully enveloped by light fruit. The mineral impression dominates. Nothing exuberant, but it's hard to ask for more from a young Kabinett. Donnhoff never disappoints.

  • Charlie Carnes Likes this wine: 93 points

December 29, 2023 - On par with other vintages, which is to say, terrific! It’s bright, tart, citrusy, charming, with mineral, crushed rocks, and a flower petal.

  • Alien Likes this wine: 92 points

December 29, 2023 - Pale straw in the glass, nose a bit pungent, with petrol, wet mouse, tart pear, and lemon. Some pouring gas. Full bodied on the palate. Rear acidity of green baking apple, with sweetness, and a long finish. Top notes of yellow pear

  • Peter Spijker Likes this wine: 91 points

December 28, 2023 - Nicely balanced acidity and sugar, lime peel, slatey minterality, lemon, green apple, quite intense. Excellent value for money.

  • Irish_Wine Likes this wine: 91 points

December 7, 2023 - Lovely nose with white blossom, pithy citrus and crisp orchard fruit. Beautiful texture on the palate with perfectly balanced, vibrant acidity and sweetness. Long mineral finish. Fresh, pure and delicious. Drink now or hold.

    WSET Notes:

    Pale lemon.

Pronounced on the nose with white blossom, green apple, pear, lemon, lemon pith, and wet stone. Youthful.

Pronounced and offdry on the palate. Medium minus body, high acidity, low alcohol, long finish.

Can drink now but has potential for ageing.
