February 10, 2024 - 7.5% abv. AP 18. What a mark it is to observe the continuity of work between Richters Dirk and Constantin. The latter achieves maximums of flavor, both in amplitude and detail, where the former in effect was a bit more passive and romantic. Mind you, this is a subtle, inward difference, surely undetectable to the criterati and vintelligentsia (not we!)
NOSE/MOUTH: whole mashed limes and roses. Chalky, pointed acids seem to overrule the sugar/body, at first. Later there is a citrus-syrup sensation familiar to anyone who prematurely opens JJ Prüm wines—I only mention it as a familiar reference; there are others. Insistent surges of wildly fresh grapefruit, lemon, (etc.,) burst through an illuminated tissue of ginger and mint. Incredibly detailed and directed. Geologically transparent. Thick with nutrient potential. Bright, illuminated, racy, hasty in action.
SUM: though I prefer this at 40-50° F, it survives the passive warming test in style. It's fit to drink through 60°. Anyone with access and cellar ambition would write this on a shopping list in ink. After 2031 it will be obvious.

September 2, 2023 - Method: pop and pour; close to fridge temp; white wine glass

Look: medium straw with slight yellow tint

Nose: key lime, minerality / crush river rock, slight sea spray

Palate: key lime, white peach, jasmine; long- finish lemon, faint fresh parsley, light minerality, ginger; medium- to medium sweetness; medium- body with light effervesce; high acidity

Overall thoughts: Without looking at my notes from a year ago, I don't think a ton has changed, except the acidity has integrated a bit more and there might be a bit of riper fruit showing. Great tension between the sweetness and electric acidity and the fruit and spice. A bit of a lighter Spatlese, at least compared to other recent vintages. 93- 94 points. Excellent wine.

August 3, 2023 - Liked this more than the Kabinett - while it's a touch richer and the flavours seem a bit riper, it actually comes across less sweet than the Kabinett thanks to a seriously bracing spine of acidity that gives it a mouthwatering tartness. Tremendous energy and vibrancy on the palate, and a wine I need to find more of.
