July 22, 2022 - A long time since I had one of these. Initially stony on the nose, then sour cherries, herby stalks. Nice depth of fruit.
What I remember about this wine is the beautiful pure strawberry and cranberry fruit on the palate: richness but elegance. Lovely mid-weight intensity.
    Finishes fresh and long.
This is of the vintage - acidity is high - and stalks are very much in evidence. The purity is outstanding. It faded a bit with time in the glass: like many 96s the acidity is starting to dominate and it needs drinking.

January 1, 2020 - Provenance is key. Nose was floral with coffee beans, spice, mocha and flower. Palate was dense with a strong mocha undertone. It will continue to age well. Strong showing tonight.

October 8, 2019 - Very acidic and high tone. Nice nose but palate was over run by the searing acidity. not horrible just not enjoyable for me.

August 7, 2019 - The 1996 Dujac Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Aux Combottes is close to fully matured but nowhere as sexy as the 1996 Clos de la Roche. Mellow mixed berries, sous bois, mild tobacco, lifted oak spices and mild rose petals. Lighter body but elegant and floral. Drink now to 2026. (89/100)

August 28, 2014 - I'm no longer wondering. This wine is coming around. The searing acidity of 1996 has faded, leaving behind a beautifully balanced wine with lovely cherry, and a little of the classic Dujac cinnamon spice. This is a really beautiful wine.
