November 14, 2017 - Slightly corked. Quite a lot of bricking so significantly browner than the Poujeaux 1990 drank alongside. Lots of tobacco and smoke on the nose with little fruit. Very mature. Little fruit on the palette but some chocolate and licorice. A little disappointing as it was outclassed by the Poujeaux 1990.

April 11, 2017 - Lovely margaux, somewhat over the hill, but still with lively acidity. No primary fruit left, plenty of margaux dust and cedar, still delicious.

November 6, 2016 - The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like black currant (cassis), mineral and fig. It tastes like black currant (cassis) and fig. The body is medium. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

July 2, 2014 - Beautiful bouquet of aged bordeaux with leather, truffles, black pepper and dark fruits. The palate displays low tannins, some fruit, but overall lacks a little harmony and charm of an aged bordeaux. The 1989 vintage is not an intellectual Margaux but for want of a better word…enjoyable. Large formats might hold more pleasure than normal bottles, but I suspect even they are in gentle decline.

November 22, 2013 - At Monopole: Nice perfumed nose, dried flowers and tart forest berries; in the mouth lacks depth and is a little weak in the mid-palate, kind of funky, sour, tart finish. Sour cherry, high acidity, low tannins. Showed promise in the nose, but is past it's prime. Still enjoyed the glass however.
