April 17, 2024 - Consumed over 2 days (stored in Somm du Vin), note from day 2. Appearance: Clear, deep ruby-purple. Nose: Clean, medium intensity with developing aromas of blackberry, cassis, clove, milk chocolate, and bell pepper. Palate: Dry, medium acid, medium+ tannin is resolved and soft, medium+ intensity, full body, 15.5% is, not surprisingly, noticeable with developing flavors of dark fruit - blackberry & cassis, baking spice, and bell pepper with a medium+ finish.

    Balance: Very Good-Excellent
    Length: Excellent
    Intensity: Excellent
    Complexity: Very Good-Excellent

I'm torn by this wine because normally 15.5% abv would be a non-starter for me. Fortunately, I tasted this and formed an initial judgement before revealing the abv content. While the 15.5% abv is noticeable there is enough fruit and savory components to reasonably balance it out. I can actually enjoy this, in small doses, today. I'm not convinced extended time will be a friend to this wine though as I suspect it will turn into a hot mess in 5+ years. Drink now or over next 2-3 years.
