February 23, 2013 - Very Good. Heavy for a merlot: tastes like a port with oak on the finish. Past it's prime, but a special bottle for us.

February 7, 2013 - An 86 point wine that gets a 2 pt bump for its age and thus, a bit more character. Nothing special.

December 31, 2012 - Markham is always a good wine but this bottle was not up to its normal par. Color was a deep bluish purple with slight bricking on the edge. The nose was a bit dusty and primarily had dark berry flavors . It had a slightly tannic and oaky finish

January 30, 2012 - Medium red/garnet robe with garnet rim. Clean nose, showing moderately intense aromas of coriander, cardamom and red cherry. Medium-bodied on the palate, with medium acidity, light residual tannins and reasonably well-integrated alcohol (which is listed as 13.8%). The flavors mirror the nose and the middle palate holds to a medium length, slightly hot (and tart) finish. Not bad, but nothing special going on here. Drink now-12/14.

May 7, 2011 - Was gifted to us. PnP, with burgers. This is nowhere near an 88 point wine to me. It has some decent plum fruit, but simple with almost no secondary characteristics. A bit bitter and hot on the finish too. Not enough fruit to stand up. Unfortunately, this really boring style is all too common with CA Merlot. Would not expect this to get better as the fruit is already a bit dull.
