Community Tasting Notes 7

January 7, 2013 - Strange and off-putting taste profile. Had the cassis, currant tart fruit profile with underlying earth and cedar that raised the score enough for me to keep trying, but had the "what the #*!" element to the end as well.

July 24, 2010 - 40th Birthday - 1970 Vintage Tasting (Casa del Woodruff): Unreleased bottle with handwritten label, gift from Jesse. Very dark in color, with outstanding aromatics. Blackberry, earth, and a touch of pepper. Damn tasty stuff, that I hope to get more of soon!

August 12, 2007 - Pretty good, sweet with nice blackcurrant cabernet fruit. Well balanced, slightly drying on finish, good complexity and depth of flavour. Does not reach outstanding though.

October 1, 2005 - Dark red-purple, nose of cassis, berries, spice, etc. -- classic Cab profile. Lovely and rich, ripe and full-bodied, with good dark cab fruit and cassis flavors and a chocolate note from start to finish. Tannic and young (I mean it is only a 2003), needs a couple of years. Fantastic deal in Cab -- only $20 for a real, ageworthy wine.

February 14, 2005 - Day 1: nothing doing. Nose of ripe, dark fruit, but completely unintegrated on the palate. Day 2: some alcohol on the nose, but the palate has opened up to decent cassis and cherry, and a nice grippy, chocolately finish of decent length. I think this has real potential, but definitely needs time (no surprise there).
