November 17, 2008 - Oh boy. This is so incredibly out of balance it was almost undrinkable. It was almost like it had just been bottled, it was that out-of-whack. Light, yet hot, with strangely shifting tannins that at first were way too sugary sweet but quickly turned bitter and astringent. Bad wine from a usually good winery. Try their 05 Wylie-Fenaghty Syrah...its great.

July 29, 2008 - I love this wine with its deep dark purple-red color and inviting earthy, funky nose, but wait, what do I smell? Is that a little hint of plum? Lets give this a sip, funky gives way to lovely fruit. More plums, some dark cherry, has a smooth mouth feel and subtle hint of tannin. An interesting, satisfying wine, that I prefer to savor on its on, sans food.
