May 26, 2022 - Opaque, dark purple, with a bright rim. A slightly muted nose, but attractive nonetheless: blackcurrant notes, a hard to pin-down freshness that reminded me of a sea breeze, strangely. On the palate it appears as a seamless whole of fruit, quite high acidity and quite low tannin. Big on the mid palate. If there is oak there it is very much in a supporting role, not to the fore. A medium-long, silky smooth finish. Obviously a very carefully made wine, possessed of its own slightly enigmatic character. I'm not sure if it needs a few more hours or a few more years to open up and show its stuff, but for the moment it is a long way off justifying its hefty price tag (about £65.) Cork, 14%, stupidly heavy bottle.
