October 7, 2023 - [Tasted Double Blind] This pours medium garnet in the glass. The nose is subdued, but oh so pretty showing plum pipe tobacco, gravel, sweet cedar, charcoal, green tobacco leaf, plum, and violets. The palate is quite silky with plum on entry. Tannin is medium minus tannin and medium acid. The finish closes on plum and violet augmented with touches of gravel and pipe tobacco. I guessed 1996 or 1999 Margaux which is a testament to how incredibly well this is holding up. Just lovely stuff. Still plenty of life here in this immaculate bottle.

August 26, 2023 - Still alive. Leather and surprisingly perfumed nose, with dried flowers. Fresh on palate, though not not too long and persistent. Acidity still there.

February 22, 2023 - Fully mature with nicely balanced and rich red fruits, herbs and smooth palate presence. This bottle was better, more fresh and less evolved, than another purchased several years back. Excellent today, drinking at peak but would hold for at least several years.

February 1, 2023 - A nice and rustic wine. Simple but drinking very well.

December 15, 2022 - Long past its prime, but still hanging in there. I shared it with my (graduate) students at semester's end, so they've now had a wine older than they are.
