Community Tasting Notes 22

March 5, 2024 - Bottle 1219g. Screwcap. Aromas of elevated intensity, berries and sweet spice with a floral top note, graphite underneath. Dry, with elevated fresh acidity, modest drying tannins, on the light side of medium-bodied, 12.5% abv. Syrah leads the flavors, with white pepper and graphite. Despite its restraint, holds a fair amount of interest, mostly on the nose, but doesn't offer much generosity for a Californian wine, or the joyousness of something like Clape's Vin des Amis. I'm asking too much I know, especially at this price point. It wants a foil, or should be the foil, for something rich like pork belly.
