Community Tasting Notes 3

December 28, 2023 - Lovely Jurançon - wicked acidity reminding me of a bruised Granny Smith (in a good rather than spoiled way), a certain ‘grip’ on the palate, again like apple tannins (a bit of extra skin contact?) with a sweet/savoury finish. Very much carrying the weight of a Western appellation/Monein estate.

Definitely one for the cellar, where I feel added complexity will follow.

Punchily priced in the UK market now, sadly.

October 15, 2023 - The nose is succulent and lovely with perfumed tones of dried apricots, quince, nectarines, jasmine, custard, mint, and baked apples. There is excellent depth and complexity that keeps you coming back for more. The Full bodied feel is textured and plush with tart, high acidity and a lengthy finish. This feels like a hidden gem kind of wine. Jurancon sweet wines are beautifully unique and deliver great quality from such an unsung region.

November 10, 2022 - Had a glass at Momofuku Ko in New York as part of suggested wine pairings. Beautiful wine, my favorite among the 20 wines we had between Ko and Le Bernadin the next day! Light to medium yellow in color. Thin, not viscous, but full bodied with glycerin on the palate. Moderately sweet, but more acid than most Satuernes and even beerenausleses, so the effect is only mildly sweet.

Great pairing with a chickpea, potato, mussel dish in subtle black truffle and daikon sauce. One of my top 10 favorite dessert wines of all time.
