February 12, 2023 - Method: opened hour in advance; white wine glass; fridge temp

Look: pale- straw with a light green hue

Nose: white peach, fresh ginger, wet river rock

Palate: white and yellow peaches, lemon, key lime, fresh ginger, salinity; medium finish of minerality, ginger; lime; medium to medium+ sweetness; medium- body (at most) with a light oily-ness; high- tart acidity that leaves nice lasting impression on palate

Overall thoughts: Love this vintage! I'd usually expect an Auslese this young to have a lot of baby fat, but this is already in a great spot (for a young, primary wine). Already showing great complexity with fruit, minerality and spice and really great acidity to balance everything out. Surprisingly (or maybe not considering the vintage), this is decently lighter bodied. While note side-by-side, I'm almost certain this is significantly lighter and more elegant than the '19 Haag Spatlesen. I really wish the finish was longer. Great wine with plenty of room to approve! Really great wine!
