May 14, 2023 - Visible label. Decanted one hour. Poured in Zalto glass at 14°C. Nice golden hue, surprising for a young vintage. Nose of baked apples and rhubarb in jam. Palate noble and mature with compote liccorice and a nice touch of blond tobacco. Very silky texture with its complex core makes it elegant and appealing. Few potential of ageaning, no/few need for decanting. Excellent like that.

May 12, 2023 - Pnp in Zalto glass. Nice mature hue. Palate with well cooked compote of pear and apples. Surpising notes of ink light liccorice and leather. Complex and concentrated with a noble style. Warm and delicate texture. Drink now.

July 5, 2022 - Grenache blanc, Clairette and Bourboulenc were used by Philippe Gimel for this white Ventoux, which presents itself like a white Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Just 15 hl/ha were harvested for this wine, whose vines stand quite high on Mont Ventoux. The wine was fermented and matured in stainless steel. In the youth, there is still fruit, then spice. According to Philippe, the wine should easily age for 20 years.

    Golden yellow

The 2020 La Montagne should first be decanted. Then it opens with a mixture of warm butter biscuit and fresh as well as dried fruits. This reminds of juice oranges and candied orange peel, of candied ginger and ripe apricots, pears and yellow plums - also as compote. The bouquet is also dominated by acacia blossom, liquorice, aniseed and a hint of plum liqueur.

On the palate, the 2020 La Montagne is juicy, round and silky with a mixture of white and yellow fruit, dried fruit and spices. The cuvée already shows itself immensely balanced between a ripe acidity with a slight grip, a little tannin and a powerful body. Here, too, the wine combines the fruit with a little aniseed and liquorice. It is an excellent, densely woven, warm-hearted food companion to strong dishes.
