March 30, 2017 - Second wine of Château Castera
70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25 % Merlot and 5% Petite Verdot.

A(ccuracy)=2: Med deep ruby; casis, leather, tobacco.
B(alance) =2: Components in balance, yet still not quite in harmony.
C(omplexity)=2: Dark berries, savors as suggested in nose but still tightly wound!
D(epth) = 2 : Good length and bit tannic finish.

June 14, 2013 - Drank a bottle back on on 4/19/2012 and the wine still needs more time. I have consumed some other wines from this vintage and they are all tight at this point. I tasted some raspberry mixed with hints of tobacco. I have four bottles left and I probably won't open another for 3 years. I will end up wishing I had bought a case.

April 3, 2013 - Decanted for 2 hours. Aromas of red fruit, hint of cassis, leather and tobacco. Tight grip early that loosened up on second day and let the flavors show through. Really nice QPR with silky mouthfeel but a short linger. Wish I had bought more.

April 19, 2012 - I decanted this wine for 3 hours, and only then did it start to open up. Just shows you the strength of the '05 vintage. The first sip had nothing going on (tasted like bad water), and then after 3 hours I tasted some dark fruit intermixed with cedar and tobacco. I probably won't drink another bottle of this wine for 3 years. This wine is going to be really good and at $14 or so a bottle it is a steal.

February 6, 2011 - Color: medium dark red. A little transparent. Nose: Some strawberry, also some green. Taste: Strawberry and some plum, a little green. Medium body. Not a long finish. Good for $13.
