Community Tasting Notes 5

April 20, 2024 - I don't know how this is possible, but this wine was very different from the same vintage bottling I had end of last year. I concur with Xavier's note below, and especially the notes of bruised apple, linen, was and salinity were notably stronger. I really really loved this, but wonder how this wine can be so different.

March 14, 2024 - Quite different from the bottle tasted in September 2023, seems much more developed aromatically. Relatively full yellow colour with a golden sheen; rich and complex nose, bruised apple and linen, hint of honey, deep and spicy minerality; very energetic and tense palate, firm acidity, tart citrus, satiny bitters; expansive, salty finish with excellent resonance and length. At wine bar Oocker, Amsterdam, NL.

February 11, 2024 - Served next to the 2021 Les Onglés from Bernaudeau. A completely different expression of Chenin. Open and wide nose with aromas of fallen apples, quince, spices. Understated power on the palate, apple and pear notes, lemon juice, flowers. Good acidity and complexity, a hipster wine with x-factor as CP would say. Singular wine.

December 30, 2023 - This spent some time on air, and that is definitely what it needs at this point. This tasted like one of those wines that is clean, elegant and persistent and shows high quality without being obvious or over the top. This had some waxyness, green apple, lemon, white blossom and a long finish. Would love to taste this in 10+ years.

September 24, 2023 - A "cult" wine tasting and lunch (Restaurant Bak, Amsterdam, NL): Quite closed on the nose initially, opens up with oxygen, green apple and citrus, whiff of linen, slightly autolytic, very energetic, power without weight, great drive and length on the finish. Great potential.
