June 22, 2008 - From the oldest Zin grapes in California- the vineyard was planted in 1869. Scott Harvey is the winemaker. A good Zin- very easy drinking. Popped and drank over 1.5 hours. Nose was of pepper- reminded me of a cab. Tasted of red fruit and a little acid with a long finish with a hint of chocolate (barely there). Very balanced wine with some complex notes. Went well with food. Not a memorable Zin, but good. Would recommend if you can get it in the $25 or so range. At $35+ you are paying for the history.
