April 16, 2024 - PnP and had with a grilled flat iron. This wine was actually really good right off the pop. Dark fruit , medium bodied silky smooth. Well balanced and really good.

March 25, 2024 - Although sourced from several vineyards throughout the Columbia Valley, Métier's 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon comes primarily from Candy Mountain. Comprised entirely of the varietal and aged in 40% new French oak, it is a deep-to-opaque ruby wine that offers a ripe core of cassis and morello cherry fruit that is accented with notes of tobacco, bark, black olives and savory herbs. Medium-bodied, fresh and with well-integrated alcohol (listed as 13.9%), it buttresses its flavors with medium-weight, grippy tannins and a generous aliquot of spicy oak. Dense on the mid-palate, it moves on to a medium-length, mouth-drying finish. A couple of additional years in the cellar will be helpful in softening the tannins and assimilating the oak. If it fleshes out as anticipated, a higher score will ultimately be merited. This particular bottle was Vinturi-decanted and serially tasted over the ensuing 3-4 hours. The wine showed best after the first two hours in carafe. Enclosed with a Diam 3 cork. Drink 2026-2036.

March 16, 2024 - Pop and pour. Blackcurrant, smoke, vanilla, mint on the nose. Fresh and juicy on palate with med tannins and vibrant acidity. Beautifully balanced palate and the oak is not overpowering on either the nose or palate. Terrific QPR here, case worthy considering the price.

March 5, 2024 - I tasted this blind and I kept oscillating between Zinfandel and Cabernet Franc (which was my final guess.) It's a bit of a miss in my opinion- what little fruit is there feels weirdly high toned and jammy, almost slightly artificial like swedish fish; the rest of the wine is all green, with lots of bell pepper. Feels early picked to maximize "brightness" but mostly at the expense of the fruit and general character.

It was better enough on day two that I decided I enjoyed it, with a bit more actual fruit coming out to play, some red plum, etc. still, I've had some disappointing young wines from DeLille In the last few years and this is just another one. All of them have sort of had this problem of austerity/thinness for their price.

February 15, 2024 - Tasted at Wine & Spirits Top 100, NYC. Savory, red fruited with a little blackberry. Very slate-like finish. Good Value Cab.
