September 5, 2022 - Atkin 95+ Tasting Event (and dinner wines) (Strauss Auction, Cape Town (and Jo'burg)): 50% new oak. The nose is mocha oak and enveloping spice with blackcurrant and black cherry and a touch of chocolate infused with a touch of sea salt.
A precision, focussed wine that fuses toasty oak and spicecake followed by an avalanche of milk and dark chocolate. Supported by supple, velvety tannins the wine has an amazing depth of flavour. A graceful, elegant wine with a long-lasting impact and excellent depth of flavour, it leaves with cayenne pepper, saline and mineral notes. Fabulous!
