July 14, 2023 - So I bought a cellar; 11/12/2022-12/31/2030: Low expectations here. But fill level was perfect or near so. Took the foil off (it was thick and heavy), and the cork looked in good shape. Used an ah so to open. I could hear the seal break as I inserted it, which was a good sign, and the cork came out fully intact, with only about 1/2 soaked. Fruit initially on the nose, with a slight must. Definitely bricking once poured in the glass. With 20 minutes of air, it opened up to really a fruit juice - maybe a prune juice mixed with cherry juice - profile. No tannins, very slight acidity. Certainly past it’s prime, but obviously well stored, and in as good of condition as I could imagine. Fairly tasty, and very drinkable. A fun surprise!
