Community Tasting Notes 3

March 30, 2024 - First of 3 bottles. Having tasted a chunky, blocky, BDX-esque Maréchale recently, I needed a hit of pure Chambolle-Musigny. And this delivered.

Sweet pure, red fruit. Fresh crushed raspberry, redcurrant, and wild strawberry. Earthy and mineral backbone after the fruit. Long, sweet finish.

This typifies Chambolle better than just about any wine I’ve had from the appellation. There’s a purity and balance that is so appealing. I suspect this will close down a little but it’s so good at this stage that I’m happy I opened one of my bottles. ~94.

January 14, 2024 - Normally I would never open this wine this early. But I am intrigued by the 2021,s. I would have avoided this vintage but if I had I would have lost my allocation going forward.
A very light weight wine. Light red, slight raspberry nose, good acidity, no real length, mostly lt. red fruit flavours ( raspberry/ strawberry), tannins are present and lasting on the palate. Acceptable / pleasant wine at best. Maybe...Hopefully this gains some complexity and more drinking pleasure with time. Would not bid on this at an auction in the future.
Second day tasting... good lt. red berry flavours, moderate length, moderate acidity...As stated a pleasent wine. ,Maybe a flawed bottle

November 2, 2022 - 2022 Excellent Burgundy Adventure; 10/31/2022-11/6/2022 (Burgundy): Barrel Tasting - Expressive nose displaying concentrated sweet red fruit, strawberry, strawberry jam, cornucopia of flowers, a hint of licorice, light caramel, sweet spices and earth. Excellent concentration, delicious generous sweet red fruit, rich, round and warm yet beautiful balance and harmony, perfect amount of acidity and earthy mineral, and a long decadent yet very pure red fruit driven floral finish. This is a text book village Chambolle with very generous sweet red fruit.
