September 4, 2008 - lots of fruit and a pretty well balanced. I might look elsewhere for some comparable Zin's in this price range.

July 5, 2008 - If you are looking for a big jammy zinfandel, this is for you. I think you could dip your morning toast in this wine and be happy with the results. For me, this crazy jamminess is just a little bit over the top but I know that some people do like it so this wine might be right up their alley and the price of around $17-18 probably doesn't hurt much either. I wouldn't buy it for myself but since a friend brought it over to a party, I had to give it a try. For what it is and for what it costs, it's not too bad.

NOSE: Starts off with incredibly expressive aromas of blackberry, blueberry, and mint. After a couple hours the mintiness subsided, and the fruits lightened up (think: raspberry)...the aromas struck me as "juicy."
BODY: dark ruby color of moderate depth; medium bodied; clear (although there was a copious amount of sediment stuck to the bottom of the cork)
TASTE: I found this wine presenting a bitter strawberry licorice flavor speckled with oak. This wine really focused on my mid-palate, barely stopping to say "hi" to my front palate. The finish was rather short. I think this is somewhat lacking in acidity, but it's not really that tannic either. For my palate, this is better than the '05 Cujo, but pales in comparison to Dover Canyon's Old Vine Zin, for which fruit is sourced from the gnarly vines of the Benito Dusi vineyard. I still haven't tried one of my '06 OV Zins, but I'm very much looking forward to it. IMO, skip the Cujo, and spend a few extra bucks to buy the Old Vine Zin or one of Dover Canyon's Bordeaux blends ... oh so good!
