November 15, 2022 - Teperberg, Barbera, 2021: This is the new addition to a special series of wines produced by Daniel (Dani) Friedenberg, the talented and youngest of the winery’s trio of winemakers. Full disclosure: I’ve known Dani and his family for over 10 years, when he was fresh out of the IDF and more than three years before he went to study winemaking at Cornell University’s Faculty of Viticulture and Oenology. Now onto the wine> Deep, clean ruby in color, purple rim. Clean and youthful on the nose, with notes of freshly picked ripe raspberries and strawberries, black cherry, with hints of clove and thyme. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, medium-plus intensity, dry, medium, balanced alcohol, echoing the nose with flavors of juicy, fleshy strawberries, black cherries, and raspberry coulis, roasted herbs such as thyme and rosemary, high acidity, with medium-plus tannis and hints of licorice and vanilla bean on a long and velvety finish. Delicious, varietally true and charming Barbera. Great job! 13% Abv. Approachable now but best 2024-2029. 91
