December 19, 2020 - Final btl of this (sadly). Fun to see this age and evolve over the last 9 years. Honestly, this wine has sort of come out of nowhere for me. Insane that it was $35/btl. Perhaps it is just anomalously good (as an '05), but I dare say this could stand toe-to-toe with a d'Angerville or M Lafarge blind. Extremely impressive with all the stuff I love in Volnay (nose, texture, delicacy, length). It is on a long plateau which it will likely remain for another 4-5 years. I have more B-P Volnays from '05 and '09 (but no more Pitures) that I am really looking forward to.

October 21, 2016 - This was much better than my last bottle, in fact, it is great. This is truly classically styled volnay with a haunting nose of ripe plum and flowers (not sure I got violets) and a spot-on Volnay texture with a peacock tail flourish. Lovely, super lovely, with grilled salmon tonight. This is holding nicely but may not have the stuffing to improve.

June 7, 2014 - After two days: dried cherry, roses, talc, bell pepper, good acid and minerality. Earthy with slight oak bitterness. Not a long finish but some gum tingling berry core.

February 17, 2013 - Tart and minerally. Sour cherry, spice and iron. Well structured with a fairly long finish. Paired with a mild soft bleu cheese that helped bring out the inherent sweetness of the fruit.

September 17, 2012 - Color: Ruby with a hint of orange. Nose: Etched cherries with notes of wet forest floor. Really started to open after 30 minutes in the glass and was very expressive at 4 hours. Palate: Graceful tart, sharply delineated cherries and plaeasing minerality. The wine did not have an especially long finish or great persistence on the palate but there was a lovely inner mouth perfume. After 4 hours the wine seemed to be improving a bit. A wine very true to its place along the northern edge of Volnay. I look forward to the next bottles.
