Community Tasting Notes 6

    May 27, 2010 - This was surprisingly nice . Picked up as part of a private sale for an average of about $9/btl. Run once through the Vinturi, it opened up nicely. Not terribly complex, but what everyday Merlot is? Plenty of fruit, very nice on the palate with soft tannins and an unremarkable finish. Stored in the fridge overnight, it tasted better the second day.

    June 6, 2009 - I had a small taste of this and it seemed decent, maybe 87. I didn't really have enough to form a complete judgement, though.

    May 25, 2009 - Overall a good Merlot, but definitely needs more time in the bottle, tannins are still too high and give a much too sharp a finish. Big fruit of plum and currants with moderate oak and some smoke. Has the potential to be a very good Merlot with time but would not recommend consuming at this juncture

    April 3, 2009 - Big, ripe fruit, balanced with a little too much oak and pretty serious tannins. Not a bad value if you like big Cali merlots, but this will be even better a year or two down the line if the tannins mellow out.

    February 17, 2009 - well focused dark red plum and currant notes; some menthol and good acidity makes it brighter than the usual merlot; good balance, a slightly hot finish and lack of much complexity or this would score higher;
