December 13, 2019 - OTBN #17 (O&R's post-reno house): Smells syrupy, honeyed, with some brown apple oxidative notes. But on the palate, it's totally different. Tart acids give this quite a lift. There are some malic/appley flavors, and some oily notes that are distinct from "petrol" but seem related. This is a very interesting wine. It's probably past peak, but it is quite drinkable and very intriguing.
Surprisingly great pairing with a Benton's bacon chawanmushi + caviar. -

August 4, 2018 - pulled this and thought it was a Germain Riesling, tasted it and immediately said this must be Trocken or French Alsace... then looked at the label and realized it was Roter Veltliner (a grape I had never had), my wife and mom-in-law didn't like it, but my son and I thought it had good tension and bite with a nice / interesting flavor profile... a well made wine in my opinion (even tho I have no clue as to the typicity of this grape)

March 14, 2015 - Great stuff. Not too old at all. Tastes a lot like dry Rieling with an extra spice component. Hard to really describe. Works with Asian food.

July 13, 2011 - Wednesday Night Blind - July 2011 (Somers 202): If you did not know this was a white wine, you would swear up and down that this was a Northern Rhone Red, specifically I said a Cornas. Amazing notes of game, smoke, flint, dark fruit, hints of chalk on the mouth as well. A touch flabby, but you would never, ever guess this was 21yr old white wine, still has plenty of time to go.

May 15, 2011 - Leth Tasting with Franz Leth (Block 7 Wine Co. - Houston): Honey, golden raisin, apple nose with hints of oxidation. Dry palate with apple, grassy herbs, and smoked almonds. I really liked the honeyed notes in concert with the total lack of sweetness. Holding up well for a 20 year old wine.
