Community Tasting Notes 3

  • Sorrowless Likes this wine:

May 26, 2014 - Amber color. A bit unpleasant at first, and needed 30 min to air out and show itself. Nose of dried fruit, chocolate, nougat. Still alive with noticeable tannins and complex taste of dried fruit, rose hip, chocolate. It is certainly very mature, but an impressive performance from this 35 year old brunello.

February 10, 2012 - Bottle and fill excellent, cork soaked, but no seepage and it came out in one piece. Austere but promising initially, ruby-garnet color. With about 45 minutes of decanting, this wine opened up nicely with leather and earth. A bit hard on the finish, but this aspect was not noticeable with food. Perefect compliment to pasta, tomato sauce, parmigiano reggiano and meat balls. A fine, vigorous wine with excellent acidity. Seems at peak - classic brunello.

December 26, 1986 - Opened gradually to relatively fruity/violets, etc.
