September 17, 2023 - Stéphane Riffault's Pinot Noir vines are located in La Noue, a terroir with white soils. He has 2.5 hectares of vines spread over seven adjacent plots. There are vines of different ages in a wide range, and from freshly planted to almost 100 years old. The grapes were harvested by hand, sorted and pneumatically pressed very slowly after a short standing period. The juice was fermented spontaneously in conical concrete fermenters and aged on the lees for 14 months in wooden barrels of multiple occupancy.

    Salmon color of medium intensity

From the first moment, it is clear that this is a Pinot Rosé that has few rivals to fear. It is a complex, elegant and at the same time lively wine that belongs to the rather fragrant fine rosés. The red berry and cherry flavors are underpinned with some smoke, crushed stone and herbs.

On the palate, La Noue Rosé offers a successful blend of power, depth, elegance and deep red berry and cherry fruitiness. The wine has tension, juiciness, finesse, fills the mouth, has freshness and spice. The cherry aromas are still a bit prominent at the moment, as is the somewhat powerful structure on the mid palate and the wood, but that will integrate. The wine is still young, after all, and it is made like a serious red wine that needs time. Crucially, this wine has finesse, depth and substance. This is a Pinot Noir rosé, as you get it so complete only very rarely in the glass. Certainly one of the best rosés I know.
